Cosworth coming? Driven, 3rd February 2004

Fresh spyshots of the new Focus winter testing.

Here are the latest shots of the 2004 Focus: it's set to be officially revealed soon, at May's Birmingham Motor Show if not at Geneva in March. The all-new range, which shares its basic platform with the recently-launched Focus C-MAX MPV, the Volvo S40/V50 and the Mazda 3, will come with new 1.6-litre and 1.8-litre SCi direct-injection petrol engines, the latter as already offered in the Mondeo, and revised versions of the 1.6- and 2.0-litre TDCi diesels. A new semi-automatic gearbox will be offered in higher-powered variants, with steering wheel-mounted controls and a double clutch system similar to that in Audi's DSG 'box. High-performance versions will follow - including, so we hear, that long-awaited Focus Cosworth, as well as RS- and ST-badged models. article

Meet New Focus Cossie Auto Express, 21st January 2004

A massively ham'd up version of the interview in EVO magzine (Bright Future For Fast Fords) with added images. The important thing to remember is that as exciting as this article is, the figures mentioned are their own estimates (not Ford). The images are also NOT official Ford images (which the article could be deemed to imply) but are their own artist mock-ups.

Bright Future For Fast Fords EVO, 24th December 2003
A very revealing interview with the head honcho of TeamRS - Jost Captio.
Jost Capito has a very impressive CV. In 1985, he, his father, brother and a friend drove their own, unsupported Mercedes Unimog trucks to victory in the Paris-Dakar rally. His first industry job was at BMW Motorsport working on the development and calibration of the first BMW M3 engine, and he also led the development of the rare Italian 2-litre M3. He then joined Porsche's race division and convinced a sceptical management to launch the 964-series RS, which was a runaway success. And he also worked on the Dauer 962 and the 911 GT1. article
